Okay, I honestly did not expect to be posting again this soon. I saw a piece of news that made me really happy. I’m a bit late to the party, but I still want to talk about it.
Kalafina will (finally!) be holding their first solo live performances at the Nippon Budokan! The live event will be in early 2015 and will comprise two concerts.
If you’re unclear as to why this is a bigger deal than any other live, well, it’s because there’s a certain amount of prestige attached to the venue. For Japanese musicians in particular, a performance at the Budokan is generally considered affirmation that they’ve made it, big time, and is likely to be recorded for a DVD release. According to Wikipedia, the arena sits up to 20,000; not the biggest concert venue in Japan, but you probably need to be able to sell a lot of tickets anyway to make a Budokan show profitable.
I personally think Kalafina should have had this honour long time ago
(I mean, even Babymetal got there first) but hey, at least it’s happening.
The nice people running the unofficial Kalafina Facebook page have translated the details for the concerts. Here’s some of them:
～Kalafina LIVE THE BEST 2015 “Red day” & “Blue Day”～
“Red Day”: 28th Feburary 2015
“Blue Day”: 1st March 2015
I am seriously considering flying over to witness this moment in Kalafina history but the decision will depend largely on my financial situation at the end of this year. Anyone making plans to catch this live?
